The increasing use of technology in all aspects of our lives makes Computing an essential life skill. The aim of the computing faculty is to help students develop these skills and to have an appreciation of computing and ICT and to use it safely and responsibly.
The core of the computing curriculum is Computer Science, Students will be taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to apply this knowledge through programming. Computing will ensure that students become digitally literate and are able to express themselves and develop ideas through information and communication technology.
All pupils will use a networked PC with industry standard software including, Windows 7, Microsoft Office, Scratch, Python and serif application software. All students will have access to a school email account and have filtered internet access; students are required to sign an acceptable use policy, a copy of which can be found here. All resources are available through Openhive and the shared drive on the school network as well. There are six computer suites fully equipped with at least 30 PCs and technical support with a team of four technicians.
