Our School
Welcome to Kimberley School
Thank you for taking your time to find out about Kimberley School. I am tremendously proud to be the Headteacher of our exciting and high attaining school.
At Kimberley we get the balance right between outstanding exam results and wider personal development. Our superb performance in exam league tables is balanced with a vast range of exciting opportunities that aim to develop the whole child. This is what makes Kimberley unique.
We continually strive for outstanding behaviour at Kimberley. Our behaviour management policy is very clear on our expectations of all of our students and sets out what will happen when these are not met. All pupils are entitled to know that their work and learning will not be disrupted. We also recognise and celebrate hard work and good attitudes through a comprehensive reward system, achievement assemblies and awards evenings.
We work closely with all of our partner Primary Partner schools to enable us to build on the achievements of everybody at Key Stage 2. A successful partnership with parents and carers is crucial to our work and a fundamental part of the success of Kimberley.
We run a comprehensive programme of enrichment opportunities for all students including in sport, music, drama, leadership and the arts. This is enhanced by a comprehensive Duke of Edinburgh programme. There are also several opportunities throughout the year for students to take part in trips and international residentials.
The Kimberley School is a great place to grow up and learn. Please do take the time to explore our website and to find out more about our great school.

Values & Ethos
The Kimberley Way
Here at The Kimberley School, we believe it is the right of every student to be able to do their best and nobody has the right to interfere with their learning. This is why there is a calm, work focused atmosphere around the school. Learning is at the very core of what we do and we want all students to enjoy it. The Student Council created The Kimberley Way which sets out the role that we expect all students to play in creating an atmosphere where everyone can be safe, happy and successful at the Kimberley School.
Strategic Priorities 2023-2026
Our main aim is to enable every child to achieve or surpass their academic and social potential. We aim for a high quality of education for all students; underpinned by a strong programme of pastoral support, personal development and enrichment opportunities. We achieve this by working in partnership with the whole community and focusing relentlessly on these strategic priorities:
-
To maintain a strong culture of safeguarding children and good attendance by continuing to ensure that arrangements are effective and are in line with statutory requirements
-
To continue to evaluate and refine a broad curriculum which gives all students access to the knowledge and skills that they need to take advantage of the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
-
To ensure that all teaching and assessment is highly effective in enabling all students to embed and use knowledge fluently.
-
To ensure that all students make rapid and sustained academic progress throughout year groups and across all subjects
-
To sustain consistent high standards of behaviour and attitudes across all aspects of school life that creates a very positive climate for learning
-
To continue to enable students eligible for Pupil Premium and other vulnerable groups to achieve, attend and behave in line with the rest of the school.
-
To further develop skilled strategic leadership and management across the school so that the education that the school provides has a positive impact on all students
-
To further extend the curriculum so that it provides for pupils’ broader personal development
The Kimberley School will:
-
Ensure that all students receive the care, guidance and support that they need to succeed
-
Take every possible step to ensure that all children are safe from abuse, neglect or from being drawn into terrorism
-
Continue to expect high standards of behaviour and attitude from all of our students
-
Design a curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of individuals, not league tables
-
Focus on depth and enjoyment of learning, not just on exam preparation
-
Foster an ethos of enjoyment, respect and success
-
Listen to parents and carers and use their feedback to further improve our work
-
Provide the best possible education for pupils of different abilities
-
Provide a rich menu of opportunities for students to pursue non-academic talents such as Music, Sport, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award
-
Sustain and develop positive relationships with our local community and prioritise school places for them
-
Recruit and retain talented and committed staff who are committed to taking every possible step to enable our students to be successful
-
Promote British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs
-
Draw on the expertise and experience of schools within the East Midlands Education Trust to ensure the very best provision and outcomes for all students
-
Work in partnership with our family of schools to sustain outstanding transition arrangements into Year 7

At The Kimberley School, we aim to inspire every member of the school community to achieve their full potential and enjoy the experience. As part of this we aim to provide a community for young people which keeps them safe, supports their learning and enables them to meet their full potential.
The Kimberley School is committed to becoming ‘Young Carer Aware’ - identifying the needs of Young Carers and supporting Young Carers’ access to a full education, working in partnership with their families.
We are developing links with Nottinghamshire Carers Association to help young people, families and our school community to identify carers and safeguard them in an appropriate way. Our recent commitment to Young Carers has led to the school being recognised and acknowledged with the ‘Bronze Young Carers in School Award’ from the Nottinghamshire County Council.
A Young Carer is defined as someone who is under 18 years of age who provides regular and ongoing care to a family member who is physically or mentally ill, disabled, or misuses substances. These individuals will take on additional responsibilities to those appropriate to their age and development.
Young carers may be primary carers, such as caring for a parent, or a secondary carer, such as helping to care for a sibling.
A Young Carer may undertake some or all of the following:
-
Practical tasks
-
Physical care
-
Personal and intimate care
-
Emotional support
-
Household management
-
Looking after siblings
-
Interpretation
-
Administering medication
At The Kimberley School we acknowledge that students may be Young Carers without having an official assessment and that students could be carers temporarily.
Support that we may be able to offer for Young Carers is support with homework and extra-curricular activities, targeted intervention to support achievement where necessary and a safe place to support mental health and well-being.
If you believe your young person falls into this category or you would like support or more information then contact us via email youngcarer@kimberleyschool.co.uk.
